Nougat What I Need
Greetings home-slices,
It is with heavy hearts that we have had to amend our summer resolution of Sunday pie-blogging. But it was for a good cause, we promise! One Crusty Gal was off in the Donegal Gaeltacht tacht-ing her Gailege and was thus unable to make it for Sunday pie (or, as they say in Gweedore, pióg). Never fear, we still managed to stuff our pióg-holes with this week's Snickers pie!
Before we get started we must do our daughterly duty and acknowledge the passing of Father's Day the best way we know how—with Dad Jokes. Since we don't have kids, you can just call us faux pas (ba-dum-chh).
What can we say about this pie? Well, for starters, it was a pie. It had a crust of vanilla biscuit, a filling of the densest peanut nougat you ever did chew, caramel, and a topping of dark chocolate ganache. The base was sandier than a beach at low tide, the nougat thiccer than a corgi's bottom, the caramel sweeter than an Alabama iced tea, and the ganache darker than a moonless night. We love imagery just like your dad loves classic rock!
Now let's tackle the nougat, before it tackles you! This hefty boi could be an All Star defensive tackle, pickin' up peanuts right and left. On the thiccness scale, it was registering at a TEN and clocking in at 2". Imagine One Crusty Gal's surprise when, upon inserting her fork into the pie, rather than sliding through what she thought to be a smooth cream cheese-y middle, it instead encountered a dense, dense nougat blockade. She was almost as shocked as that time she threw her toaster in the bath tub! (ba-dum-chh)
Isn't everyone's least favorite part of a Snickers bar the nougat? We only wish Established could've skimped on that least-popular of features. That being said, we couldn't have asked for a pie more similar to the classic candy bar dads love to pass out on Halloween.
In honor of Father's Day, here's a joke that makes us Snicker...
Kid: I'm hungry!
Dad: Hi Hungry, I'm Dad!
Corporate America: You're not you when you're hungry. Eat a Snickers.
Corporate Belfast: ...pie!
One Crusty Gal: *pióg!
Stay sweet till next week,
Two Crusty Daughters

Excellent dad jokes, delicious-looking pie. Although I agree that nougat is a bit too thicc to be the main feature of a Snickers pie. And thanks to this entry, I've spent all day sing "Yoooou, you got what I need..."
