When Life Gives You Lemons...
Greetings home-slices,
On this first Lenten Sunday, the most pie-ous of days, one of these Crusty Gals was reunited with her one true love: dessert. Luckily, Established blessed us with a colorful lemon cheesecake topped (and paired) with raspberry cream for the occasion.
In addition to fasting and abstinence, our penance this week has come in the form of writing a big, fat essay. But when life gives you lemons, hope your favorite café turns them into a cheesecake so you can eat your feelings.
Luckily, ours did, and our stress faded with each velvety bite. Now let's sink our teeth into it!
If it's true that you eat with your eyes, this was veritable feast. The pastel palate of the cheesecake primed our palates and had us dreaming of spring. And the cream! It was truly the Mother of All Creams.
It was love at first bite, but by the halfway point, we had reached the seven-year itch and were rethinking our commitment. The fresh lemon taste we'd fallen for became monotonous and we wished there had been a little more zest to keep things fresh. The almond crust reminded us of the good times, but in the end, we only stayed for the sake of the light raspberry cream. Ultimately, we honored our vows to the very last crumb.
The pie wasn't the only special thing about today - we were joined by an honorary Crusty Gal who made a pie-stop on her way to the hospital. Talk about keeping your pie-orities straight!
Sadly, the fun and games are over. We're back to school (and refraining from dessert again) tomorrow, but we'll be keeping our eyes on the pies.
Stay sweet till next week,
Two Crusty Gals
