M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-Pie
Greetings y'all-slices,
As every American fourth-grader can tell you, you can't spell Mississippi without pie. Come to think of it, maybe this is why these Two Crusty Gals both failed the fourth grade.
This week's rain brought plenty of mud and Established made the most of it by providing a Mississippi mud pie that brought us back to the deep Southern childhoods neither of us had. The only Mississippi mud we've ever experienced is the kind that prevents you from camping as you road trip through the state, so consider us novices.
This pie was chocolate galore. A bourbon chocolate biscuit base, a chocolate espresso pudding, dark chocolate brownie, and cream topped with, you guessed it, chocolate shavings. This is the sort of pie-eating experience that leaves a chocolate ring around your mouth for hours afterwards.
Surgeon General's Warning: It's also the kind of pie that you'll only want half a slice of or else YOU WILL DIE. Not only was it thick enough to clog arteries, it was dense enough to bludgeon someone to death.
But a few measly health risks didn't faze us one bit. We bravely rose to the occasion, and by the end, finishing this pie was like trudging through mud: challenging, tiring, but deeply satisfying. Times like this, we're glad that this blog is a once-a-week affair.
Despite the overwhelming richness, this pie left us happier than two pigs in mud.
Stay sweet till next week,
Two Crusty Gals
